Headed to the Beach!

So here’s where we are at…. I actually still have plenty to say. However I’m feeling a futility in continuing to say it.

Every day I see it more. I see people that will never care, about these issues, for which I feel so strongly.

I’ve been writing for about a decade now, and I’m going to share a secret with you. Very very very very rarely, if ever, does anybody anywhere, ever respond, to anything I’m writing about.

I’ve written two books that no one ever says anything about. (You wouldn’t believe who’s read it… Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Clarence Thomas!! 170 famous people took free copies of my book on Amazon – crickets!)

Even here on this blog. Look through it and see how many comments there are. And aren’t.

When I write something serious on Facebook, no one ever reads it. People are less and less interested, in saving and fixing the world.

Social distraction and frivolity are the answers, to all our problems.

I did find a small pocket of exception to this…. I wrote one article for a conservative right-leaning blog. There were 50 comments… and forgive me for saying this…. some of the comments seemed.… just plain bizarre.

I would characterize those people as 'conservative OVER-thinkers' - angry, verbose, argumentative, and lacking focus. I had no idea.

I assumed that conservative thinkers would hoist me on their shoulders and carry me to the palace!

Instead, a simple topic like ‘let’s get our people educated’ turned into a mad free-for-all of comments from people that either disparaged the concept of the education of black children (if you can imagine that), complained about the lack of parenting in the black community (as if only two-parent-homes could produce children with educations), or else they responded with copies of long, useless ramblings of religious or political missives that they’d sent to politicians…

Stuff like this –

4) "Have this mind amongst you that you have in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.-"Philippians 2:5-11

And this –

You may also remember that the spirit of Demos attended the crucifixion of the Supreme Judge of the world when Pilate asked for the people to vote for Barabbas—a robber, insurrectionist, & murderer—or Jesus the Christ’s release.-Jn 18:39-40, RSV The people voted for Barabbas. And then, the religious leaders challenged Pilate’s hesitancy to crucify Jesus the Christ by claiming that they recognized no king but Caesar.-Jn 19:15 The baby Jesus whom Herod viewed as a threat to his reign thus occasioning the slaughter of babies seeking to eliminate the incarnate Second Person of the Trinity is now accomplished on Golgotha thirty-three years later. However, the Supreme Judge of the world, who hung naked, bruised beyond human semblance between two thieves, finished the work God granted him to accomplish in his prayers of spirit and life.-Isa 50:6-11, 52:13-53:12, Jn 5:17-22, 6:63, Lk 23:34, Mt 27:45-46, 24:34-36, Mk 12:29-31, Jn 19:30, Lk 23:46, Jn 7:24, 8:24, I Tim 3:16, Titus 2:9-14

How does ANY of that address my point?!

I even had one conservative reader tell me that I needed mental help! Imagine! A conservative that could not find agreement with the simple concept of educating people. His comment was rooted in the fact that I simply do not engage in argument regarding my viewpoint.

I do not argue. There is no argument. The simplicity of the message does not warrant opposition.

It became obvious to me, that many conservative thinkers would rather scream at you, than solve or even discuss an issue.

I do feel more optimistic, about talking about health issues. I do feel that there is boundless value in talking about ways senior citizens can avoid doctors and pharmaceuticals, and live better quality lives.

But I am also feeling completely defeated on the political fronts. To establish a reference point, let me just say that I had a catalytic converter stolen from my vehicle. The insurance company totaled my car. Seismic disruption in my life..

Furthermore, it is not one mile from my house, that there is a junk yard that buys stolen catalytic converters. Pays three hundred bucks a piece for them!

So I wrote to the nine top politicians in my state. I did not complain or whine, but instead asked them for help in solving this problem as a concerned citizen willing to get involved.

After all, these junk yard businesses are licensed by the state to do business here, and yet they are allowed to buy stolen property and resell it. Criminals are ravaging neighborhoods, collecting catalytic converters from scores of cars every night, and in the morning they head to the junk yards to cash in.

Yet out of nine politicians I heard back from only one – a state assemblyman whose office said they were having meetings on the resale of stolen catalytic converters.

Lots of other states have addressed this problem, but somehow I feel…. here, nothing will be done. Seems so simple to fix, and yet, no.

So here, my point is this. Even if you offer to be a part of the solution – even if you refrain from blame, criticism, and anger, you will not hear from a politician.

We’ve given them the keys and we’ve given them the money, and we’ve gone into our living rooms to watch Dancing with the Stars. The politicians are now in charge. The politicians have all the power. Not us.

Politicians are overwhelmed, they are feckless, and they know it. They know there is nothing they can do. And they know why. But rather than help us, all they can do is ignore us. And raise their salaries.

But for me, my failures in tackling politics and education, pale in comparison to this…

I was recently shut down by a local radio station, during an interview, because the new programming director is a black woman, who decided that my viewpoint and my message (remember?: Full education for all black children..) was too anti-black, to be on the air.

And then - perhaps you are familiar with an incident (probably not..), whereby, the Black Student Union of a state university, chased Allen West off of a college campus, because the mob did not agree with the speaker's Black Conservatism viewpoint.

When I was denied access to the airwaves, I made the operations manager of the radio station aware of the incident, and I did not expect it to go any further.

When Allen West was chased off campus by a mob of several hundred angry black students, who also ferociously chased YAF Chairwoman Therese Purcell into a men’s campus bathroom, threatening her life – nothing was done.

Nothing was said and nothing was done. Law enforcement, campus administration – nothing. Mob mentality won. No one was reprimanded. No one ever spoke of it again.

No one defended the sanctity of constructive discourse. No one stood up to say that All Opinions Matter.

What you might take from this, is that the new angry black mob is in charge. Nothing in the black community is ever going to change. Under-achievement, social service dependency, and the race-card blame-game mentality, will win out over introspection and improvement.

I look around and I see people that are never going to consider adopting the tenets of a prosperous self-sufficient society.

I look around and I know that people are not willing to do the work necessary to ‘right the ship’.

The ‘free ride’ of poor uneducated people has become firmly rooted in our society.

To me the solutions are so clear and so simple. Raise better people.

Yet humans are not inclined to change or learn or grow. Or listen or believe.

A full education for all people is the only thing that will fix what's happening to us.

No matter how much time and money I spend trying to have some affect on the human condition, I won’t, will I….

Why am I trying?
